The Second Squad reports the Arrest of five (5) persons for Gang Assault that occurred on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 10:15 P.M. in Farmingdale.
According to Detectives, a male victim, 17, was near the Albany Bridge in Farmingdale with friends when the five defendants approached him. As the victim attempted to walk away from the defendants, they rushed towards him and struck him multiple times about the head. The victim fell to the ground where the defendants continued to strike him and removed his wallet before he lost consciousness. After the first assault, the five defendants approached a second male victim, 17, where he was punched and kicked several times before his I-Phone and wallet were removed by the defendants. Victim #1 was later transported by family members to a local area hospital for treatment of multiple fractures to his face and nose that required surgery. Victim #2 didn’t require medical attention.
On Thursday, February 14, 2018, at 1:30 P.M., Detectives and Police responded to Farmingdale High School and placed defendants Isiah Gillespie, Asharab Sheikh and a male juvenile, 16, into custody. Defendant Joseph Khanat and a second male juvenile, 16, were each located at their residences and placed into custody.
The five defendants are the following:
Isiah Gillespie, 19, of 205 Willard Ave, Farmingdale,
Asharab Sheikh, 17, 523 N Bay Ave, North Massapequa,
Joseph Khanat, 17, 41 Poplar Ave, South Farmingdale,
Two male juveniles, age 16 years
The defendants are each charged with Gang Assault 1st Degree and two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree. All defendants were arraigned on Friday, February 15, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main St, Hempstead.
