The Public Information Office reports the details of a Fire that occurred at 6:11am on Sunday, March 03, 2019 in Valley Stream.
According to Police, a fire broke out at the Crown Deli located at 519 W. Merrick Road. When Officers responded they heard a male victim calling for help from the rear of the building. Chief Bolhringer of Malverne and another fireman assisted Officers Nunez and Mbiaka in getting through the locked door using a forcible entry tool. Police Officers Nunez and DelAquila entered the kitchen area and removed the male victim, 33, out of the building passing him off to Police Officers Blane, Carelus, Girard, Mbiaka and Malverne Chief Bolhringer. The aided was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for smoke inhalation. He is currently listed in stable condition. Six Officers were also evaluated/treated for smoke inhalation and released from the hospital. Fire Department Personnel from Valley Stream, Malverne, Lynbrook and Woodmere assisted in extinguishing the fire. Arson Bomb Detectives, the Fifth Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshall on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
