
Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a New Cassel woman for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 4:00 pm in New Cassel.
According to detectives, Child Protective Services responded to a Railroad Avenue residence to conduct a welfare check and investigation regarding two female juveniles, ages 8 and 11, regarding possible child abuse by their legal guardian, Nicaisse Demonsieru, 34, of 989 Railroad Avenue. Both juveniles were found to have marks consistent with being struck by a cord as well as sustaining bite marks and were transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
On Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 9:30 am, Child Protective Services requested the assistance of police at Demonsieru’s residence to assist in her arrest. After being informed she was under arrest Demonsieru then grabbed a pill bottle and ingested an unknown amount of pills. She then resisted arrest by violently pulling away and caused one officer to suffer a minor injury. After being placed into custody, Demonsieru, as well as the injured officer, were transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The defendant is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Assault 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. She will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 3/8/2019.
