
The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of four men for Assault that occurred on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:54 P.M. in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, Defendants Daryl Russell, 28, of 124 Smith St, Freeport and Hugh Stewart, 27, of 137-19 226 Street, Laurelton entered an Applebee’s restaurant located at 1126 Green Acres Mall, Valley Stream. A verbal dispute started between them and two other patrons, Defendants Jonathan Garcia, 24, of 518 Pennsylvania Avenue, Brooklyn and Jesse Bulla, 24, of 95-09 88 St, Ozone Park.
Defendant Daryl Russell went into the bathroom and was followed inside by Jonathan Garcia and Jesse Bulla, where they punched Russell before leaving. Defendants Daryl Russell and Hugh Stewart left the restaurant where another physical confrontation began between all four defendants and resulted in Jonathan Garcia being stabbed. Fifth Precinct Police responded and placed all four into police custody; two knives were recovered from scene. Defendant Russell suffered lacerations on his face and Garcia had a punctured lung; both were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Further investigation revealed Daryl Russell had in his possession a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
Defendant Daryl Russell is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree. Hugh Stewart is charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. Jonathan Garcia is charged with Assault 3rd Degree and Jesse Bulla is charged with Assault 3rd Degree. All defendants will be arraigned on Monday, March 18, 2019 in First District Court, Hempstead.
