The Third Squad reports the arrest of a man for Assault that occurred on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 9:30 P.M. in Mineola.
According to detectives, police were responding for a call of a suspicious male that was looking into multiple car windows at a Walgreen's parking lot located at 12 East Jericho Turnpike. Upon police arrival the subject stated his name was Darius Johnson, 24, but was unable to provide identification proving his identity. As officers were attempting to confirm the identity of the subject, he became combative towards officers, spitting and flailing his arms and legs. The subject was soon after placed into custody; six officers received minor injuries during the arrest. Defendant Johnson and the six officers were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Defendant Darius Johnson is charged with Assault 2nd degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree. The Defendant will be arraigned on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
