The Fifth Squad reports thearrest of a New Jersey man for Assault on a Police Officer that occurred onFriday, August 2, 2019 at 1:45 A.M. in Lynbrook.
According to Detectives,Bryant Veal, 20, of 232 North Broad Street, Trenton, New Jersey, was driving a2015 BMW and was observed by an officer driving recklessly while travelingwestbound on Sunrise Highway. The officer activated their emergency lights andattempted to stop the vehicle in order to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic LawStop. While attempting to stop the vehicle, Defendant Bryant Veal struck amarked Lynbrook Police vehicle near the intersection of Sunrise Highway andHorton Avenue. Defendant Bryant Veal was arrested by officers without furtherincident. The Lynbrook Officer did sustain non-life threatening injuries andwas transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Defendant Bryant Veal ischarged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, Assault 2nddegree, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree,Criminal Mischief 2nd degree, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possessionof Marijuana, and multiple traffic infractions. He will be arraigned onSaturday, August 3, 2019 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
