The Robbery Squad reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. in North Bellmore.
According to detectives, a female, 83, received a phone call at her home residence from an unknown male stating that he worked for Microsoft and that the victim’s computer had technical issues that needed immediate attention. The subject was able to convince the victim to purchase several gift cards over several days that amounted to over $11,000.00 US currency. She verbally gave the suspect the gift card codes for him to redeem over the phone. After not receiving any services, on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, the victim, believing that she may have been scammed, notified a family member who upon learning of what had happened contacted police.
