The Nassau County Public Information Office reports the details of a Fire that occurred in Woodmere on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 7:15 am.
According to police, Fourth Precinct police responded to the Keystone Yacht Club located at 190 Woodmere Boulevard for a boat fire. Upon arrival police observed a 39 foot boat docked in the water that was fully engulfed in flames. The Nassau County Police Marine Bureau Unit responded with the assistance of the Woodmere Fire Department, Hewlett Fire Department, Lawrence / Cedarhurst Fire Department, Inwood Fire Department, and the Long Beach Fire Department to extinguish the fire. Subsequently the vessel sank into the water at the dock slip due to excessive damage. The United States Coast Guard and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation also responded to contain fuel and other liquids that spilled into the water. A 31 foot and a 34 foot docked nearby also sustained minor damage. There were no injuries reported. The Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshall responded as well to investigate. The Arson Bomb Squad is continuing with an ongoing investigation.
