The Fifth Squad reports the details of a Robbery that occurred on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 8:10 pm in Franklin Square.
According to detectives, a male white suspect entered a Subway sandwich shop located at 679 Franklin Avenue. Once inside, he pointed a small dark handgun at a female customer, 35, pushing and ordering her to the rear of the shop, behind the counter. The suspect then demanded the male employee, 21, open the register. After the male victim complied, the suspect removed an undisclosed amount of US currency and fled northbound on foot. No injuries were reported.
The male white suspect is described as approximately 40 years old, 6’2” tall, with a regular build. He was wearing gloves, a black brimmed hat and had a stocking over his face.

Major Case Bureau detectives from the Robbery Squad report the arrest of Jerry Torres, 55, of 540 Fowler Avenue, Franklin Square, in connection with the above incidents. Torres is charged with two (2) counts of Robbery 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 4, 2019, in First District Court, Hempstead.
