
Special Investigations Squad detectives report the arrest of a Port Washington man on Thursday, October 3, 2019.
According to detectives, John Dejana, 47, of 10 Slocum Avenue, was the subject of a long-term investigation by the FBI Long Island Joint Terrorism Task Force. Investigators were able to secure a search warrant of his home and properties which they executed on Thursday, October 3, 2019. As a result of search, investigators recovered eleven (11) illegal “Ghost Gun” (Firearms without means of identification or serial numbers) handguns, 10 (ten) of which were inside his home and one (1) inside his vehicle. Approximately 3000 thousand rounds of ammunition, a quantity of marihuana as well as a quantity of anabolic steroids was also discovered inside the residence. Also recovered was five (5) New York State “Non-Safe Act Compliant” Rifles (Assault Rifles), 12 “Non- Safe Compliant Act” ammunition magazines, as well as four (4) “Ghost Gun Building Kits”.
Dejana is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1st Degree. He was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 10/4/2019.
