
The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for DWI-Leandra’s Law on Saturday, October 12 at 12:10 AM in Jericho.
According to police, while on routine patrol officers observed Jose Simon Cuzco Remache, 28, of 1151 38th Street operating a 2017 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle was traveling northbound on North Broadway and was following another vehicle too closely, while failing to maintain a lane repeatedly. The officers engaged their emergency lights and sirens and initiated a car stop near Bella Sonia Court and Route 106. During the investigation it was discovered that the defendant had blood shot, glassy eyes and there was a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The defendant’s two children, ages 5 and 7, and four other adults were in the vehicle, one of which was the children’s mother. The children were released to the mother at scene. No injuries were reported.
The defendant Jose Simon Cuzco Remache is charged with (2) counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16 – Leandra’s Law), (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, (2) counts of Driving While Intoxicated and numerous VTL Infractions. He will be arraigned on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
