First Squad detectives report the arrest of a North Bellmore man for an Assault that occurred on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 in North Bellmore.
According to detectives, a male victim, 62, was driving northbound on Bellmore Road when he became involved in a dispute with the operator of another vehicle in the vicinity of Magnolia Road. Once both parties exited their vehicles a verbal dispute ensued which escalated into a physical altercation, at which point the victim was struck several times on his head with a flashlight. During the altercation the victim, a retired Law Enforcement officer, with a valid Nassau County pistol permit, did fire one round from his firearm striking the defendant in the buttocks. Both involved parties were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. After a thorough investigation the defendant was placed under arrest without incident.
The defendant, Michael Bua, 47, of 22 Stratford Court, North Bellmore is charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. The defendant will be arraigned when medically practical.
