Third Squad detectives are investigating a Robbery that occurred on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 8:35 pm in East Garden City.
According to detectives, four female black subjects and one male black subject entered Neiman Marcus, located at 630 Old Country Road. They were observed on store surveillance cameras by security officers enter the stores handbag department. The male subject was observed using a pair of bolt cutters to cut the security wires that were securing the handbags to the shelves. Once the items were removed, a female suspect takes one of the handbags and quickly exits the store with the 3 other female subjects. A security officer confronted the females outside the store and one of the female suspects displayed a small canister believed to be mace, discharging a liquid into the victim’s face. At this time, another security officer attempted to prevent the male subject from also exiting the store with merchandise. The male then raised the bolt cutters over his head in a threatening manner towards the security guard, before turning around and fleeing the store through an opposite exit.
The victim that was sprayed in the face suffered pain and a burning sensation to his eyes. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The subjects were observed entering a Hyundai Santa Fe fleeing in an unknown direction with the unpaid merchandise. No further description is available.
