The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of a house fire that occurred on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 1:58 P.M. in Bayville.
Nassau County Police, Bayville Fire Department responded to a 911 call for a house fire on Bayville Park Boulevard and the home was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. At the time of the fire there were two occupants inside. One adult was pronounced deceased at the scene and one adult male, suffering from serious injuries was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is in critical condition.
The Bayville Fire Department was assisted by eight (8) other local departments, which consisted of approximately twenty (20) pieces of apparatus and more than a hundred (100) firefighters. Three (3) firefighters were transported to a local hospital for treatment for minor injuries. Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and Fire Marshalls responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.

The deceased female victim has been identified as Sonia Baron, 94 years old.

Homicide Squad detectives report that the seriously injured male in the above incident, Walter Baron, 96, who was transported to the hospital, succumb to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by a staff physician.
