It has recently come to the attention of the Nassau County Police department that scammers have been able to spoof actual NCPD phone numbers in attempt to scam our citizens. County Executive Laura Curran and Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder are urging citizens to be vigilant when receiving telephone solicitations or emails from persons identifying themselves as officers or employees of the Department.
The Nassau County Police Department does not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer.
If you receive a call from someone purporting to be a member of our department who requests payment via wire transfer, pre-paid credit card or other means, hang up and call 911.
Nassau County Police Department wants to remind residents that personal information should never be released unless verified through proper channels.
If you believe you may have been a victim of any of these scams, please call 911 immediately.
Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible are asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). All calls remain anonymous.
