The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of two men for Robbery that occurred on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 5:41 A.M. in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, a 28 year old male victim, was involved in a motor vehicle accident while traveling southbound on Martin Place. The two defendants, Jamal Salter, and Kasheem Latham, exited their vehicle and began to punch the victim and then took his cell phone. The victim ran from his car and knocked on a local homeowners door. The homeowner called 911 and Fifth Precinct police arrived on the scene and observed the defendants entering a 2007, dark colored BMW leaving the scene. Officers followed the vehicle and eventually the vehicle struck a parked car in front of an Audrey Avenue residence. Three subjects fled the vehicle, two subjects were located on Audrey Avenue and placed under arrest. A Third defendant, with an unknown description fled the scene and was not apprehended yet by police. The victim suffered an injury to his jaw and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Jamal Salter, 35, of 725 Flager Street, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, is being charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree, and three counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Kasheem Latham, 27, of 98 Macdougal Street, Brooklyn, is being charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned on Sunday, December 8, 2019 in First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
