First Squad Detectives report the incident of an elderly scam that occurred on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11:18 A.M. in East Meadow.
According to detectives, an 81 year old female victim received a phone call sometime in November from an unknown male subject. The subject stated that the victim had won 5.5 million dollars but needed to send $500.00 US Currency in order to claim the winnings, in which the victim complied in doing. The victim was contacted again on Friday, December 6, 2019 and instructed to send an additional $500.00 USC to claim the winnings and complied. The victim was contacted a third time on Thursday, December 12, 2019 and instructed to send a further $500.00 USC. The victim was in the process of sending it when she was stopped by an employee in the East Meadow post office who felt something was wrong and notified police. The investigation is ongoing.
