Seventh Squad detectives are investigating an incident that occurred on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 4:40 pm in Merrick.
According to detectives, two male subjects, one armed with a handgun, entered a second-floor entrance to a Beach Drive home. After confronting one of the male occupants, the subjects stated, “Give us your stuff”. The victim grabbed the subject’s arm in an attempt to push away the gun and was punched in the face. After being able to separate himself from the subjects, he then ran into another room. The commotion, which was heard by other occupants of the house, caused them all to retreat into the basement area of the home where they locked the door, called 911 and awaited police arrival. The subjects then fled the home without any proceeds. The 20 year old male victim who was punched in the face refused medical treatment.
The subjects were described as follows:
Male white, 6’ tall, in his 20’s, with a medium build. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a purple bandanna that covered the lower part of his face.
Male Hispanic, 5’11” tall, in his 20’s, with a medium build. He also was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a purple bandanna that covered the lower part of his face.
The investigation into this incident continues and detectives request anyone with information regarding it to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
