Seventh Squad Detectives report the arrest of an East Meadow man for Grand Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 9:30 p.m. in Merrick.
According to Detectives, Hempstead Police Department was investigating a suspicious red pick-up truck on Terrace Avenue. The investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen and officers attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. The subject refused to stop and fled in a reckless manner. While fleeing the subject struck a 2007 Toyota 4runner that was stopped at a stop sign on Fenimore Avenue in Uniondale, injuring the operator. The subject continued fleeing and a short while later Nassau County Police Officers located the stolen vehicle on Merokee Drive in Merrick. After a brief investigation the defendant, Ryan Buonauro, 23, of 1693 Noble Street was taken into custody. It was also determined the defendant was responsible for a larceny from another vehicle that occurred on 12/21/19 in Bellmore. The operator of the 4runner suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The defendant Ryan Buonauro has been charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Incident with an Injury, Petit Larceny, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, Reckless Driving and multiple traffic violations. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
