The Public Information Office reports the details of an Aided / Water Emergency that occurred in Island Park on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10:10 am.
According to police, Fourth Precinct police responded to the Long Beach Bridge for a man that fell into the water. Upon arrival, Fourth Precinct police observed a 60-year-old male bridge operator that fell into the water. The worker fell through a hole in a wooden perimeter deck he had been walking on. With the assistance of the Nassau County Marine Bureau, Aviation Unit and the Emergency Service Unit police were able to pull the victim out of the water and onto the Marine vessel. The male suffered head trauma and possible hypothermia and was transported to the Long Beach Emergency Center by the Marine Bureau for treatment. The victim later was again transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to another local hospital for further treatment. The victim was listed in stable condition.
