The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of two men for a Burglary that occurred on Saturday, January 25th, 2020 at 3:13AM in East Meadow.
According to the Burglary Pattern Team detectives, defendants Uzair Khan, 18, of 144 Bette Road, East Meadow and Mathew Hartenstein, 19, of 9507 Kings Highway, Brooklyn did break into the E-Smoke Shop, located at 2174 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow. Inside they removed property, including nicotine based and CBD based products before leaving the store. An investigation was conducted and resulted in the identification of defendants Uzair Khan and Mathew Hartenstein.
Defendant Uzair Khan was located by police on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike/Avis Drive, in East Meadow and placed under arrest. Defendant Mathew Hartenstein was located on Thursday, January 30, 2020 on Clocks Boulevard in Massapequa and placed under arrest. Further investigation led to both defendants being found responsible for several other burglaries that had occurred in Nassau County on the following dates:
December 8th, 2019 - Pipes/Stuff Smoke Shop, 2384 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow
December 12, 2019 - E-Smoke Shop, 2384 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow
December 29th, 2019 - Twisted Smoke Shop, 347 Merrick Avenue, East Meadow
January 5th, 2020 - Twisted Smoke Shop, 347 Merrick Avenue, East Meadow
January 12th, 2020 - Arturo Smoke Shop, 5632 Merrick Road, Massapequa
January 28th, 2020 - Arturo Smoke Shop, 5632 Merrick Road, Massapequa
Defendant Uzair Khan and Mathew Hartenstein have both been charged with seven counts of Burglary 3rd degree. They will be arraigned on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
