The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of a Water Rescue that occurred on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 12:10 p.m. in Baldwin.
According to Police, Officers responded to a residence on Bayfront Drive for a welfare check on a 29-year-old female. Upon the officer’s arrival the female jumped into the water in the rear of her residence. The water current immediately started taking the female away from the shore. Officers jumped into the water but were unable to reach her safely. The officers found a nearby row boat and were able to reach the female, who was now over 50 feet from shore. With the assistance of Nassau County Police Marine Bureau, the female was safely returned to shore and was transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. There were no other reported injuries.
