
The Major Case Bureau is investigating a Robbery that occurred on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:30 pm in West Hempstead.
According to Robbery Squad Detectives, a male suspect who has been identified as Romell Nellis, entered the Roslyn Savings Bank located at 50 Hempstead Turnpike. He approached the teller, passed a note stating he had a gun and demanding money. The teller complied and the subject fled southbound on foot with an undisclosed amount of US currency.
There were six (6) employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery. There were no reported injuries.
Nellis was previously arrested on 1/8/20 for robbing two (2) banks, including the above location and was subsequently released. There are active warrants for his arrest.

The Robbery Squad reports the arrest of Romell Nellis, 40, of 196 Long Beach Road, Hempstead for the above listed crime. A subsequent investigation determined the defendant Nellis was also responsible for a Robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 145 Fulton Avenue in Hempstead, that occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. The defendant Romell Nellis has been charged with two (2) counts of Robbery 3rd Degree. He was also found to have an open Nassau County Warrant for two (2) counts of Robbery 3rd Degree and two (2) counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He is also being charged with an open warrant for a Violation of Probation for cutting off his Electronic Monitoring Device (ankle monitor). He will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
