The Fifth Squad reports on the arrest of an Elmont man for Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident involving a pedestrian struck that occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2:25 PM in Elmont.
According to detectives, a female pedestrian, 41, while attempting to cross from Hempstead Turnpike to Evans Avenue, was struck by a gray 2012 Honda Civic that was making a left turn from Hempstead Turnpike onto Evans Avenue. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene without attempting to identify himself. The victim sustained serious physical injuries to her head and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Subsequent to the investigation, the operator of the vehicle was identified as defendant Daniel Gianotti, 22, of 1245 Burton Avenue. On Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 9:15 AM, defendant Daniel Gianotti was arrested at his residence without incident.
Defendant Daniel Gianotti is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident with Serious Physical Injury and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He is scheduled to appear on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 9:00 AM at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
