Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Brooklyn man for crimes that occurred on July 5, 2019 and October 16, 2019 in Nassau County.
According to Detectives, an investigation was being conducted for fraud and stolen checks from multiple victims. It was determined that the subject was obtaining checks from the mail and altering them. The subject would then use a false identity to cash the checks for a higher amount. The investigation led to the defendant King Hooper, 22, of 2610 Newkirk Avenue. He was placed into custody without further incident.
The Defendant King Hooper has been charged with two (2) counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, four (4) counts of Identity Theft 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree and two (2) counts of Scheme to Defraud 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
