The Third Squad reports the Arrest of a Hempstead man for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals that occurred on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1:15 p.m. in Hempstead.
According to detectives, two individuals were walking their dogs in the vicinity of St. Pauls Place and Stevens Avenue when they were approached by Peter Galantino, 58. After a brief verbal confrontation, the defendant kicked the victims’ dog, lifting it approximately 15 feet off the ground, landing on the pavement. The victims, a 56-year-old female and a 61-year-old male, transported the dog to West Hempstead Animal Hospital where it was pronounced deceased.
After an investigation, the defendant surrendered himself to detectives on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. He was arrested without incident.
Peter Galantino is charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals. He was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to Nassau County District Court on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
