The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 1:25am in Elmont.
According to Detectives, at approximately 11:30pm on Friday, March 27, 2020 two victims were sitting in a parked car located at the corner of Emily Avenue and Norma Street in Elmont. Victim one, a 24-year-old male was sitting in the driver’s seat and victim two a 19-year-old female was sitting in the front passenger seat. At that time, three unknown males wearing dark colored ski masks and blue surgical gloves approached the car. Subject one opened the passenger door, displayed a silver and black colored semi-automatic handgun as he leaned into the vehicle and demanded the victim’s property. Subject two approached the rear door on the driver’s side. Defendant Tyler G. Joseph, 23, of 62 Lincoln Street Elmont opened the driver’s side door, leaned into the car and demanded the victim’s property. Both victims in fear of their safety complied and handed over their property. The subjects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The proceeds were three I-Phones, a Louis Vuitton bag containing personal papers and an undetermined amount of US currency. No injuries were reported.
Subject one is described as a male black, 22-26 years old, 5’10”, 165lbs., with a beard showing from underneath the ski mask, wearing a dark gray colored hoodie style sweatshirt, dark gray colored sweatpants and red colored Jordan shoes. Subject two is described as a male black, 22-26 years old, 5’10” and approximately 140 lbs..
At approximately 12:07am Officers canvassing the area did observe a gray colored Dodge Caravan occupied by four males. When the individuals observed the Officers, they fled the scene in the vehicle at a high rate of speed northbound on Elmont Road. Officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop in the rear parking lot of 485 Hempstead Turnpike. The four males exited the vehicle, the driver and passenger evaded police but the two remaining males complied with the Officers verbal commands. Subsequent to the investigation, defendant Tyler G. Jones was arrested without incident. He was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Robbery 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, March 28, 2020 in Mineola. No proceeds from the prior robbery were recovered.
