First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Freeport man for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 3:00 pm in Freeport.
According to detectives, Lenny Traveras, 26, of 14 Lincoln Place, while having a verbal argument in front of a residence on Bedell Street with the male victim, 27, did fire two rounds from a handgun at the victim before fleeing. A subsequent investigation was conducted and the victim positively identified Traveras as the person responsible for this incident.
On April 1, 2020 at 1640 hours, subject Lenny Taveras was located at a residence in Selden and placed under arrest. No injuries occurred during the incident.
Defendant Taveras is charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Defendant Taveras will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 4/2/2020.
