The Fourth Squad reports the Arrest of a Center Moriches woman for Robbery that occurred on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 6:45 p.m. in Oceanside.
According to detectives, defendant Jemella Gilpin, 40, of 326 Railroad Ave. entered the Stop and Shop located at 3577 Long Beach Rd. Once inside, she took assorted merchandise from the shelves and attempted to leave the store without paying. When she was confronted by two store employees, a 39-year-old male and a 60-year-old male, she flailed her arms, causing them both to sustain minor injuries. They were treated for their injuries at the scene.
Upon police arrival, the defendant attempted to flee the scene, flailing her arms and kicking, causing an officer to suffer an injury to his leg. She was placed into custody without further incident. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Jemella Gilpin is charged with Robbery 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Disorderly Conduct, two (2) counts of Assault 2nd degree and Harassment 2nd degree. She will be arraigned on Friday, April 17, 2020 at First District Court, Hempstead.
