Garden City Police report the arrest of a Westbury man for a Robbery that occurred on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 9:30 pm in Garden City.
According to detectives, an unknown male entered the Mobil Gas Station located at 117 Franklin Avenue. The male subject approached the male employee, displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim, 37, complied and was ordered to the ground. A second male (not yet apprehended) was standing outside. The subjects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.
A thorough investigation was conducted and Rafael Estrada, 31, of 101 Taylor Avenue was arrested. Estrada was in possession of a substance believed to be cocaine.
During a joint investigation with Third Squad detectives, it was determined the same two (2) subjects were responsible for a robbery that occurred at 7-11 located at 531 Fulton Avenue, Hempstead. The incident was on December 21, 2019 at 2:57 am.
Defendant Estrada is charged with two (2) counts Robbery 1st Degree, two (2) counts Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. He will be arraigned on Thursday, April 22, 2020 in Mineola.
