First Squad detectives report the arrest of two Hempstead men for an incident that occurred on Friday, April 24, 2020 at 3:15 am in Wantagh.
According to detectives, Jamil Davis-Taylor, 18, of 54 Evans Avenue, Apt. 4, Jordan Satchell, 19, of the same address and a third subject yet to be arrested, were the subjects of a 911 call regarding a suspicious occupied vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler, parked on Johnson Avenue, Wantagh. The three were then observed exiting the car and while heading in different directions were seen attempting to open car doors on numerous parked vehicles.
Upon police arrival all three subjects fled on foot in different directions. With the assistance of the Nassau County Police Department Canine Unit and the New York State Police, both Taylor and Satchell were located and placed under arrest.
A subsequent investigation at the scene on Johnson Avenue revealed that the Jeep Wrangler was a stolen vehicle from Baldwin that was taken earlier that morning. Inside the car was various items that were discovered to be stolen from vehicles in the Baldwin / Franklin Square areas.
Both defendants are charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree. Taylor is additionally charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. They will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 4/25/2020.
