Major Case Bureau-Gang Investigations Squad detectives report the Arrest of a Roosevelt man for Criminal Possession of a Firearm that occurred on Tuesday, April 18, 2020 at 7:50 p.m. in Roosevelt.
According to detectives, while on routine patrol, detectives conducted a VTL stop on a silver Toyota Camry, which had just turned on to E. Clinton Avenue from Roberts Place. When they approached the vehicle, detectives could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car. When the defendant, Eric Rizo, 19, of 5 2nd Place, was removed from the vehicle, he reached toward his waistband. Detectives then noticed a large bulge in the defendant’s pants which was discovered to be a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol. The defendant was placed into custody without incident.
Eric Rizo is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in Mineola.
