The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 11:45 a.m. in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, an officer from the Hempstead Police Department observed a vehicle that had just been stolen minutes prior from AAA1 Transmissions Auto Shop in West Hempstead. As the officer attempted to initiate a car stop on Stewart Avenue the subject fled the scene northbound. The subject exited his vehicle at Dartmouth Street and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the defendant Dashante Daniels, 24, of 245 Bennett Avenue was placed into custody. After a further investigation it was determined Dashante Daniels was also responsible for a Burglary that occurred on May 16, 2020 at Fulton Used Cars in Hempstead.
The defendant Dashante Daniels has been charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree and two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree for the May 21, 2020 incident. He has been charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, three (3) counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Possession of Burglary Tools for the incident on May, 16, 2020. He will be arraigned on Friday, May 22, 2020 in Mineola.
