Fifth Squad detectives report the arrest of a juvenile male for an incident that occurred on Monday, July 6, 2020 in Elmont.
According to detectives, police attempted to conduct a VTL stop at Keller Avenue and B Street, of a vehicle operated by a male juvenile, 17, who failed to pull over and fled at a high rate of speed. The male juvenile defendant struck a parked car causing damage and pushed this car into a second parked vehicle. Police pulled behind the defendant who placed his car in reverse and intentionally struck the officer’s vehicle. The defendant then struck the parked car and the police vehicle once more before fleeing the scene. The police officer sustained a contusion to his right shoulder, substantial pain to his neck and left shoulder. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The male juvenile defendant was located a short time later at the corner of Terry Place and Gavrin Boulevard in Franklin Square where he was placed under arrest.
He is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury. The defendant will be arraigned on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 in Mineola.
