The First Squad reports the arrests of one female, and one adolescent male for Menacing with a Weapon that occurred on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 6:20 PM in Roosevelt.
According to Detectives, First Precinct Patrol Officers received a 911 call for a gun displayed. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were informed by a 22 year old female victim, that her and three adolescent victims, ages one, three, and seventeen were placed in fear when a silver Nissan drove passed them and threatened their lives while pointing a firearm at them. The victims were able to provide a description of the vehicle, which was located by police officers canvassing the area. The defendant Shatoya Newine, 19, of 265 Fenimore Avenue, Uniondale was placed into custody without incident and police were able to recover a loaded firearm. The juvenile defendant was also placed into custody without incident. A third occupant of the defendant’s vehicle, Tianna Carr, 20, of 315 Maplegrove Avenue, Uniondale was also placed into custody for an unrelated charge.
Defendant Shatoya Newine is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and two counts of Menacing 2nd Degree. The adolescent defendant was charged with two counts of Menacing 2nd Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Defendant Tianna Carr was charged with Bail Jumping 3rd Degree. Defendants Newine and Carr will be arraigned on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 in Mineola. The adolescent defendant will be arraigned in Family Court on Monday, July 27, 2020.
