
The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a West Hempstead woman for assault that occurred on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 1:59 PM.
According to detectives, a male victim got into a verbal argument in his Hempstead Avenue residence with his girlfriend defendant Melissa Monfort, 49, West Hempstead. The verbal argument escalated in which defendant Monfort displayed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in his stomach causing a puncture wound that caused pain. Fifth Precinct police were called by the victim and arrived at the residence. After an investigation Melissa Monfort was placed into police custody without incident. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in a Nassau County Ambulance and treated for his injury. The knife was recovered at scene.
Defendant Monfort is charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. She will be arraigned on Friday, July 17, 2020 in First District Court in Hempstead.
