Seventh Squad detectives report the arrest of a Massapequa woman for Driving While Intoxicated on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 6:31 pm in Massapequa.
According to detectives, Joanne Dooher, 50, of 120 Suffolk Road, while operating a 2019 Hyundai at the intersection of Merrick Road and East Shore Drive, struck two pedestrians, a 93 year old male and a 86 year old female, who were in the attempting to cross Merrick Road. Dooher remained at the scene and after a subsequent investigation, she was found to be driving in an intoxicated condition. The defendant Dooher was then placed into custody without further incident.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital. The male victim is currently in stable condition and the female victim suffered a broken pelvis.
Defendant Joanne Dooher is charged with two (2) counts of Vehicular Assault 1st Degree, Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree. She will be arraigned on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Mineola.
