The Third Squad reports the arrest of two Plainview men for a Robbery that occurred on Monday, August 2, 2020 at 11:30 PM in Williston Park.
According to Detectives, a 24-year old male victim and two male defendants, Alexis Martinez-Benitez, 20 of 4 Universal Boulevard and Christian Schiavone, 19 of 28 Cherry Drive, were at a parking lot on Washington Avenue, Plainview. Both defendants asked the victim to drive them home in his vehicle, which the victim declined. Both defendants began to assault the victim with closed fist as he attempted to get into his vehicle and flee. Defendants Martinez-Benitez and Schiavone also went inside and continued to assault the victim as he was driving. During the assault, defendant Schiavone forcibly grabbed the victim’s necklace and ripped it off his neck. The victim drove to the Nassau County Police Third Precinct, located at 214 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park. The victim parked his vehicle in front of the Third Precinct and ran inside to inform Officers of what had occurred. Third Precinct Officers went outside to his vehicle and placed both defendants under arrest without further incident. The male victim suffered substantial bruising and lacerations and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. He is in stable condition.
Defendant Alexis Martinez-Benitez is charged with Assault 3rd degree, Robbery 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Grand Larceny 4th degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. Defendant Christian Schiavone is charged with Assault 3rd degree, Robbery 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Grand Larceny 4th degree and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd degree. Both will be arraigned on Monday, August 3, 2020 in Mineola.
