Major Case Bureau detectives report the arrest of Stony Point, N.Y. man for an incident that occurred on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 12:17 pm in Westbury.
According to detectives, Ravi Abdul, 52, of 24 Algonquin Drive, while inside Dime Community Bank, 622 Old Country Road, did attempt to withdraw $29,000 from an account using fraudulent identification. An employee of the bank became suspicious when processing the request and discovering that the account was previously closed due to prior fraudulent activity.
911 was contacted and upon police arrival, Abdul was placed under arrest without further incident.
Abdul is charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Identity Theft 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on 8/11/2020 in Mineola.
