First Squad detectives are investigating an incident that occurred on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 7:15 pm in Merrick.
According to detectives, two nine year old female victims, who are sisters, encountered a male white subject at two different times while traveling to and from their Petit Avenue home to their grandmothers house on Webster Street. The first victim, while riding her bicycle to her grandmothers, observed the male sitting on a bicycle on the corner of Petit Avenue and Webster Street intentionally exposing himself to her. The victim turned around and went home to tell her parents. Approximately two minutes later, the second victim, while riding to her home from her grandmothers also observed the same male subject. As she attempted to ride her bicycle passed him the male lunged at her, grabbing her shoulders, stopping her and attempted to pull her pants down. The victim yelled at the subject, was able to get away and also rode home to tell her parents.
The subject, who fled the scene, was described as being in his 20’s, with brown hair. He was wearing a black shirt, red pants, black sneakers and a paper mask covering his mouth. His bicycle was described as being black in color with a white stripe and was possibly motorized. He was last seen heading westbound on Webster Street.
