The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Bay Shore woman for Assault of a police officer that occurred on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 9:30 p.m. in Westbury.
According to detectives, two Third Precinct officers while on patrol conducted a vehicle and traffic stop of 2015 Nisan Altima on Fulton Street. During the investigation, the driver Arlene Tucker-Bryant, 21, of 104 Smith Street became agitated and rolled the passenger window up onto one of the officer’s arm. The second officer was able to unlock and open the driver’s door in an attempt to remove the defendant. Tucker-Bryant put the car into reverse at a high rate of speed causing one officer to jump clear and the other officer jump into the passenger side of the vehicle. The officer was able exit the vehicle and Tucker-Bryant fled on Taylor Avenue onto southbound Merrick Avenue. The officers were able to stop the vehicle at 89 Merrick Avenue and placed Tucker-Bryant into custody. Both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Tucker-Bryant is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree and will be arraigned on Monday, June 6, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
