

Seventh Squad detectives report the arrest of two males that occurred on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 9:45 pm in Massapequa.
According to detectives, Nassau County Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) observed a black Acura traveling southbound on Dover Street traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to maintain lane. The officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop at 102 Colonial Drive after the vehicle also failed to use a signal. During the investigation, officers recovered a handgun under the driver’s seat. A substance believed to be marijuana was also recovered. Ariel Serrano Ochoa, 18, of 50 Hyde Park, Bay Shore and Kaliem Tharpe, 20, of 102 Colonial Drive, Massapequa were arrested without incident.
Defendant Tharpe’s female child, 8 months old, was in a rear passenger car seat of the vehicle. She was released into the custody of her mother at the scene.
Defendant Serrano Ochoa is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Speeding and Failure to Signal.
Defendant Tharpe is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Both defendants were arraigned Monday, October 5, 2020 in Mineola.
