The First Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for a Robbery that occurred on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 1:55 a.m. in Baldwin.
According to Detectives, the defendant Mohammed Negadi, 29, of 1139 Jefferson Place, was in a car with two female acquaintances, 47 and 44, when they began to argue. Both females and the defendant exited the vehicle and began struggling over a phone. The defendant jumped into the driver’s seat of the vehicle and began to drive away with the female, 44, back in the car. The female, 47, called 911 to report her car stolen. The defendant fled scene prior to police arrival. A short while later officers observed the vehicle being driven by the defendant and initiated a vehicle and traffic law stop. The defendant refused to stop and continued driving with the female victim still in the car screaming for help through an open window. While fleeing the officers the defendant continuously threatened to kill the female in the vehicle. The defendant continued driving into the Village of Freeport and struck a tree on South Ocean Avenue. The defendant fled the scene once again, this time on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the defendant was placed into custody.
Defendant Mohammed Negadi has been charged with Robbery 3rd Degree, Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree and Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Infractions. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 16, 2020 in Mineola.
