The First Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for a Menacing that occurred on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 7:55 PM in Uniondale.
According to Detectives, First Precinct Officers responded to a call for a disturbance at 604 Jerusalem Avenue. Upon arrival officers were told that the defendant, Selvin Hernandez-Lopez, 18, of 606 Amsterdam Avenue, had fled on foot southbound on Amsterdam Avenue. Officers were able to locate the defendant in the driveway of 612 Amsterdam Avenue where he was involved in a disturbance with two male victims. The defendant was holding a large knife at which point Officers with their guns drawn ordered him to drop the knife several times. The defendant refused to drop the knife and turned towards the Officers in a threatening manner. After several more lawful orders to drop the knife were ignored one of the Officers deployed his Electronic Control Device which incapacitated the defendant and allowed the Officers to safely place him into police custody without further incident. The Defendant was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local Hospital for evaluation.
Defendant Selvin Hernandez-Lopez is charged with two counts of Menacing 2nd Degree, two counts of Menacing a Police Officer and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Mineola.
