First Squad Detectives report the arrest of two males for Attempted Murder that occurred on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 4:35 p.m. in Freeport.
According to Detectives, Freeport Police Officers responded to North Long Beach Road for a call for an assault in progress with shots fired. Upon arrival officers were met by a witness that described a male suspect that attacked a male victim with a machete as a second male suspect fired multiple shots from a handgun at the victim. Officers canvassing the area located both suspects and observed them throw two objects over a fence on South Bergen Street. As officers approached the suspects, they fled on foot and after a brief foot pursuit were both taken into custody. Officers responded to where the suspects were observed throwing the objects and located a large machete and a loaded handgun. The victim was located a short while later with severe lacerations to his right arm.
Defendant Abraam Rodriguez, 19, of 30 North Long Beach Avenue in Freeport, has been charged with Murder 2nd Degree (Attempt), Assault 1st Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree and two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.
Defendant Alvin Tineo, 20, of 77 McAdoo Avenue, Jersey City, NJ, has been charged with Murder 2nd Degree (Attempt), Assault 1st Degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in Mineola.
