Eighth Squad Detectives report the arrests of two Hogansburg men for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, October 29, 2020 at 10:50 PM in Bethpage.
According to Detectives, as part of Operation Natalie, Nassau County’s War Against Opioids, COPE officers, did conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop of a gray 2006 Chevrolet Pickup truck for a defective license plate light. During the investigation, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana. Officers removed the defendants Jonathan M. Burwell, 30, of 25 Kanawakoh Road and Brian Jacobs, 33, of 18 Border Road, from the vehicle. Defendant Burwell became combative, causing injuries to two officers. During the struggle, a substance, believed to be heroin, was recovered from subject Burwell’s pants pocket. Once defendant Burwell was contained, officers found defendant Jacobs to be in possession of additional controlled substances. Further controlled substances were discovered upon searching the vehicle.
Defendant Jacobs is charged with four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. He was released on an appearance ticket. Defendant Burwell is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
