First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Freeport man for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property that occurred on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 12:28 am in Freeport.
According to detectives, Officers observed a 2018 Ford Escape traveling on N. Long Beach Road. The same vehicle, with the same New York State registration was revealed to be stolen by a village license plate reader. The officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. As the officers approached the vehicle, the subject driving complied with their commands and shut it off. The subject then started the engine and fled northbound on Wallace Street.
A short time later, the vehicle once again was stopped and Ivan Gutierrez-Alcantara, 19, of 23 E Avenue was arrested.
Defendant Gutierrez-Alcantara is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer 3rd Degree . He was arraigned on 10/30/2020 in Mineola.
