The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man for Assaulting two Nassau County Police Officers that occurred on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 11:55 PM in Elmont.
According to Detectives, 5th Precinct Officers were dispatched for a disturbance that occurred at a residence located on South King Street. Upon their arrival Officers found defendant Hurguens Jasmine, 24 of Elmont who had blocked off the stairs to the 2nd floor of his residence. Officers requested defendant Hurguens Jasmine come down, at which point the defendant yelled and began to swing a metal broomstick, striking an Officer multiple times. Officers attempted to place the defendant under arrest but resisted, flailing his arms and legs, hitting Officers several times. An Officer deployed an Electronic Control Device (ECD) to control defendant Hurguens Jasmine, after which he was able to be placed under arrest. Defendant Hurguens Jasmine was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. During transport, defendant Hurguens Jasmine spat on a Nassau Police Medic caring for him and an Officer. One Officer sustained a laceration to the top of his head and abrasions to his forearm. Another Officer sustained abrasions to his hands and forearm. Both Officers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Defendant Hurguens Jasmine is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd degree, two counts of Menacing 2nd degree, two counts of Harassment 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned when medically appropriate.
