The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of two males from an incident that occurred on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 4:25 p.m. in Elmont.
According to Detectives, Fifth Precinct Officers observed the defendant Joshua Mordi, 23, of 32 North Montague Street, Valley Stream, operating a red 2001 Acura northbound on Meacham Avenue. Officers observed multiple violations and initiated a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop in front of 1349 Hempstead Turnpike.
While conducting an investigation it was determined that the defendant Mordi had a suspended driver’s license as well as three outstanding warrants.
During the investigation, the defendant Deonte O’Connor, 23, of 215 Lawrence Street, Uniondale, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. He entered the Texas Chicken and Burgers restaurant and locked himself in the bathroom. Additional units were called to assist and after a short while defendant O’Connor exited the bathroom.
As officers attempted to search defendant O’Connor for safety reasons, he became combative. After a brief struggle officers were able to place defendant O’Connor into custody. During the struggle one officer was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment of facial lacerations and contusions.
Defendant Joshua Mordi has been charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Infractions. Defendant Deonte O’Connor has been charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. They will both be arraigned on Friday, November 20, 2020 in Mineola.
