Third Squad detectives report the arrest of two Syosset men for a robbery that occurred in Carle Place on Friday, 08/14/15 at 1:18 P.M.
According to detectives, Mario Mayancela, 16, and Gregorio Garcia, 16, both of 525 Convent Rd., approached a 14-year-old female victim who was sitting on the steps in front of Carle Place Farm located at 514 Westbury Ave., and began harassing her and asking to use her cell phone. The defendants’ grabbed the victim’s purse and pulled her to the ground, dragging her across the sidewalk several feet until the purse strap broke. The defendants fled the scene on foot with the purse. A male witness, who attempted to chase the defendants’, was able to direct police to their last known location. Third Precinct police officers located the defendants on Broadmoor Lane/Bert Ave., a short time later. The victim’s purse, containing cash, was recovered.
The victim, who sustained abrasions and contusions to her upper back, was treated at the scene by Nassau County AMT. No other injuries were reported.
Mayancela and Garcia are each being charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and will be arraigned on Saturday, 08/15/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
